Entries are open for the Empress India South Africa Pageant which is due to be held in Durban on July 27 – the winner travels abroad to take part in the Mrs India Worldwide.
This three sequence event is open to all mature women, married and divorced to be our representative on the international stage as our Ambassador of Goodwill.
Entry is free and auditions will be held in June.
The Pageant consists of Eastern dress, Western ear with a question and answer segment.
This year in September, Mrs Nazeera Mall, a Durban architect will travel to Mumbai to take part in the Mrs India Worldwide at the Leela Hotel – one of India’s plushiest hospitality properties and ranks among the best in the world. The current Mrs India Worldwide is Vidhi Dave of the United States will hand over her crown to the incumbent and hopes are high that she would pass it on to Mrs Mall.
Chairman of India Festival Committee, Mrs Darmathma Saran said that there is on-going discussion to also include a Miss Indian Worldwide Teenage.
Meanwhile in Durban and Johannesburg, South Africa’s entrant in the Miss India Worldwide, Serisha Maharaj is being geared up for her crack at the elusive crown. Just two South Africans in 28 years have won the top spot.
Now her moment has arrived.
